Hondros Farms

Great beef is raised by even better people, like Charlie and Crystal who value caring for both their cattle and community.

Hondros Farms is comprised of several large tracts of land located just North of Columbus in Delaware, Sunbury and Centerburg, Ohio. In addition to being a Cow/Calf producer for Sakura Wagyu Farms they farm about 2500 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat and hay - some of which is used for feed and bedding for the cattle.

Farm President, Charlie Reffitt lives on one of the farm properties with his wife of 5 ½ years, Crystal. Charlie and Crystal share their residence with 2 cats and 215 cows and they welcome about 175 calves each year during Spring and Fall calving season. These calves spend the first 6 months with them before moving to one of Sakura’s Feeding partners.

The Reffitts are passionate about raising the highest quality beef for the Sakura program and they take great pride in the care the animals receive while they are in their hands.

“We take pride in having healthy happy cattle, a great workplace, and providing some of the best beef in the world through Sakura Wagyu Farms,” Charlie told us.

Charlie enjoys mentoring youngsters that want to consider a career in farming, and has hired some in their early teenage years to teach them about the hard work involved and what it takes to succeed in this business.

In addition to giving great care to their cattle, Hondros Farms also believes in giving back to the communities where they farm. Last year they planted 5 acres of sweet corn and donated a large portion of it to the local food banks and the YWCA Family Shelter.
