What is Wagyu?

Welcome to the World of American Wagyu – once you taste its rich, melt- in-your-mouth buttery
flavor, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to try it.

What is Wagyu and where did it come from?

Wagyu, meaning "Japanese cow," is a breed renowned for its extraordinary marbling and rich flavor. The rich history of wagyu beef dates back to ancient Japan, where the breed was carefully cultivated for centuries. Originally used as draft animals for agriculture, these cattle were selectively bred to enhance their meat quality.

The journey of wagyu to America began in the late 20th century. In the 1990s, a small number of Japanese Wagyu cattle were imported into the United States. As interest in wagyu beef grew, American farmers and breeders started to develop their own wagyu programs. Over the years, wagyu beef gained recognition for its exceptional quality and unique marbling.
